Introduction
In nursing healing and curing are sometimes used interchangeably but these terms are different in meaning and application. Nurses have stated in various workshops and interactions, that they know they give excellent physical care, but they are unsure of how they can support the person who is experiencing life-altering/life-transitioning illnesses. Caring is a large part of what nurses do but when asked to explain beyond the physical, they indicate they often it difficult to verbalize. This activity will address healing, curing, and caring and discuss the nurse’s role in each. How caring and curing impact healing will be addressed. Once these concepts are defined, their impact on the care provided by nurses will be discussed. Some useful and helpful therapeutic interventions will be identified that nurses can use to support and provide comfort when providing care.

Learner Outcome:
Nurses will be able to name three approaches to how they can provide care to clients beyond physical care by knowing how to use healing, curing, and caring approaches.
A posttest will be available at the conclusion of the activity for those wishing to receive CNPD contact hours. A passing score of 80% is required to receive the certificate.
To receive contact hours for this activity the learner will read the content and past the posttest will a score of 80% or better. The certificate will be awarded for 1.0 contact hour.
